Edge & Corner Protection

Corner protectors and edge boards are a simple, low-cost way to protect the most vulnerable parts of a consignment — the corners and edges — from compression damage, impact, and crushing during transit and storage. Used across warehouse despatch, pallet shipments, and furniture logistics, they're typically one of the last things added to a packing operation but one of the most effective at reducing damage rates.

Types of corner and edge protection

Cardboard corner protectors are the most widely used option — corrugated L-shaped protectors that fit over the corners of boxes, frames, panels, and palletised loads. Lightweight, recyclable, and cost-effective at volume. Our corrugated corner protectors are available in bulk packs and suit most standard corner dimensions.

Edge boards (Kraftek) are long L-profile boards that run along the full edge of a pallet or large consignment, distributing strapping pressure evenly and preventing it from cutting into packaging or product. Essential for palletised loads going through haulage networks where fork tipping and strapping pressure are a real risk. Our Kraftek edge boards are made from high-strength laminated paper board.

Plastic corner protectors offer reusable, heavier-duty corner protection for higher-value items or consignments that need to be handled repeatedly. Our plastic open corner protectors and large plastic edge protectors are suited to regular pallet movements and warehouse environments where cardboard alternatives would not survive repeated use.

When to use corner and edge protection

Corner protectors are most valuable when consignments are being strapped, stacked, or palletised — the three situations where corner and edge damage is most likely. They work alongside stretch wrap and strapping to create a fully stable, protected load. For furniture, artwork, glass, and large format printed panels, corner protectors are often the difference between a product arriving intact and a costly damage claim.

For smaller items needing corner protection inside a box, bubble wrap and corrugated cardboard rolls offer wrap-around protection that covers corners as part of a full wrapping approach. For fragile items at product level rather than pallet level, packing peanuts and paper void fill provide cushioning against internal movement.

For a broader view of protective packaging for pallet and warehouse operations, our protective packaging range covers foam, bubble wrap, strapping, and stretch film alongside corner and edge protection.
