Packing peanuts are one of the most common forms of protective packaging there is; perfect for reducing movement of items and preventing damage to fragile or delicate products during transit. Unlike traditional non eco-friendly polystyrene packing peanuts, our eco flo loose fill is made from GM free starch to offer superior impact protection, and make them not only fully recyclable, but biodegradable, and even compostable too. Naturally lightweight, our biodegradable packing peanuts won’t add to your postal costs so you don’t have to compromise on the level of protection you give to your products. Odourless and dust free to not attract rodents, these starch packing peanuts are available in easy-dispense boxes, and large bags depending on your needs.
To dispose of these packing peanuts, add them to your compost heap, or simply put them in water and they'll break down.
What are packing peanuts used for?
Packing peanuts are used for filling space in packages and provide your items with impact protection and cushioning from knocks and bumps in transit. It's one of the most common protective packaging and void fill materials there is on the market due to its lightweight nature so it won't increase your postal costs.
What to do with packing peanuts?
If you’ve received a package containing packing peanuts, you can of course re-use them for shipping, storing, or protecting your own products. As our packing peanuts are made from non genetically modified starch, you can even use them for your compost!
Are packing peanuts recyclable?
You’ll need to check what material your packing peanuts are made from. If you’ve got the traditional polystyrene packing peanuts you won’t be able to do anything more than throw them away as polystyrene is the least eco-friendly material going. If, however, you’ve got starch based packing peanuts, you can recycle, biodegrade, or compost them.
How long does it take for packing peanuts to break down?
Starch based packing peanuts will dissolve in water, whereas polystyrene packing peanuts will never break down. Starch is an annually renewable resource, not a depleting resource like petro-chemical based polystyrene so always ensure you buy these eco-friendly equivalents.
